The Flowers Family

The Flowers family were introduced to Living Hope International Zambia in 2009 when Jamie and Kathy led a summer mission trip from Oak Pointe Church to serve alongside Living Hope in Ndola. Jamie, Kathy, and their oldest daughter, Megan, traveled to Zambia several times in the years that followed to serve on various short-term mission teams. In 2015 Jamie began working part time for Living Hope while still living in Michigan. In 2017 they were able to join staff full time and in the fall of 2019, they felt God’s leading to move their family overseas to work alongside the Zambian people. While living in Zambia, the Flowers focused on discipleship and leadership development, overseeing the welfare of the children living on campus and coffee production. Following the unexpected passing of Jamie in November of 2022, Kathy continues to serve joyfully as the Director of Education and Child Welfare. Kathy currently resides in Highland, MI, with her two youngest children, Emily and Joseph and travels several times per year to Zambia. Her oldest daughter, Megan, serves on the Living Hope team and aids with Communications and Marketing.

The Deleeuw Family

The Deleeuw family's first experience with life in Zambia began in 2021 when they moved for a year-long term to serve as farm managers at the Seeds of Hope orphanage. Jon has natural leadership skills, and was a valuable asset to the farm team. Renae, London, Austin, Zara and Ivy found their niche with the children living there. Renae particularly loved to spend time playing sports, London and Zara spent multiple hours a day helping in the baby house, Austin loved skateboarding, and Ivy was up for pretty much anything. The Deleeuw family was first introduced to Living Hope when they met and spent time with the Flowers family, who were serving as missionaries. Jamie Flowers even gave them a tour of the coffee plantation! The end of their year term came quickly, and they returned to Canada with their hearts permanently impacted by all they had seen, experienced, and all the people they had grown to love so deeply. Adjusting back to Canada took time, and Jon and Renae fervently prayed that God would clearly show them where He was going to lead them next. God did just that. Through a series of divine meetings and conversations, Jon and Renae could see that God was opening doors for them to return to Zambia, this time to serve with Living Hope. They are excited for this next chapter in their lives, where they will walk alongside the Living Hope staff to equip, encourage and guide the work being done there.  The Deleeuw family plans to move to Zambia in September, and their role will be to come alongside our Zambian leaders to provide support and foster cross cultural unity.
