Solar Project

The coffee is our sustainability crop and can produce approximately $250,000 of annual gross revenue. However, the coffee must be watered daily during the dry season which runs from April through November. Our electrical supply is unreliable. We incur blackouts daily for as long as 10 hours. Our current backup plan is to operate a very costly diesel generator.

Coffee Processing Equipment

In order to provide world class coffee, the proper equipment is necessary to pulp, ferment, dry, hull and grade the coffee before shipment to the buyers in the USA. The equipment will be installed under roof on an open-air cement platform with electrical supply (feed by our solar panels) and water drainage.

Dining Hall

The dining hall will serve breakfast and lunch to 300 students and staff daily. The evening meal and weekend meals will be served to our 112 orphans and 28 housemothers and staff. The kitchen will be equipped with walk-in refrigeration/freezer and propane cooking facilities. Seating will be picnic table style. Outside grilling/cooking will be included.

Vocational Training Center

Vocational training in various trades will not only be essential to our children but also to community adults who lack any marketable skills. An apprentice program is envisioned both for male and female applicants offering such trades as auto mechanic, plumber, electrician, welder, brick layer, seamstress and cook.

K-12 School

The school will include 2 classrooms for pre-school to aid the children in improving their English language proficiency before entering 1st grade. Each class will consist of 25 students, approximately 10 Living Hope children and 15 children from the surrounding community. The school will include a library, science and computer labs, restrooms and admin offices.

8 additional children’s Homes

4 girls and 4 boys houses will be added to accommodate an additional 64 children. This will also necessitate the hiring of 16 additional housemothers. The foundation of the houses along with the plumbing and electrical were built during the previous construction phase.

Church Resourcing center with chapel

One of Living Hope’s main directive is to share the love of Christ with our neighbors. How better to do that than to instruct local Pastors/Shepherds so that they can teach and guide their flocks. Living Hope will utilize the guest housing, dining hall and the Church Resourcing Center to provide food, shelter and education for the Pastors as they are equipped to guide their congregations.

Medical Clinic

Access to medical services in Zambia is extremely limited. The latest estimate of Doctor/Patient ratio is 1:11,000. It is our intent to partner with a USA based medical facility and rotate medical students/interns/residents through our clinic working in conjunction with local medical practitioners; thereby, increasing the level of care while transferring best medical practices.

Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund

Investing in higher education and vocational training ensures current and future generations of Living Hope graduates have the opportunity to pursue their post-graduate educational and occupational goals. This next generation of leaders will set the foundation for a strong, self-sustaining, community. Real change in Zambia can only come from its people. Together with your support, Living Hope is growing a healthy, loving generation of leaders who possess the skills necessary to transform their community and solve challenges facing their emerging nation.
