Who We Are
IntroductionIn 2001, a group from Oak Pointe Church of Novi, MI visited the nation of Zambia (a trip which has been repeated and grown each year since then). A few of us from that original group were especially struck by the great need of the thousands of orphans there, and in 2003, together with Oak Pointe Church and Campus Crusade for Christ-Zambia, opened our current home (Restoration Mission Home) and have witnessed 13 children grow and develop in a safe environment in Ndola, Zambia. These Children and the plight of the orphans of Zambia led the leaders of LHI to think on a larger scale. In 2006, the Living Hope International Board was formed as a 501(c)(3) by Oak Pointe Church to take control of and grow the orphanage, and in 2008, LHI officially took responsibility from Oak Pointe Church and is now a separate organization registered with the Zambian Social Welfare department and focused solely on helping the orphans of Zambia. |

GoalsOur current goal is to build a community in which 100 Zambian orphans can live and safely grow up and be educated. Our plans also include land to farm so that the community can be self-sustaining, a school that can enroll 200 children (100 orphans plus 100 children from the neighboring village), a church, a medical clinic, and vocational training, all of which will provide opportunities for physical, mental, and spiritual growth. We will also create a mentorship program between local families and orphaned children to help the orphans learn about family life, and reach out to the surrounding communities through economic empowerment, HIV/AIDS education, and spiritual revival. We have recently acquired land on the outskirts of Ndola and are beginning to develop the envisioned community. |
